Cochise College celebrates Community College Month

Article

In honor of National Community College Month, Cochise College is joining institutions nationwide to celebrate the role community colleges play in strengthening communities through economic, academic and employment advantages.

Observed every April, Community College Month (#CCMonth) is a national education outreach campaign spearheaded by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). The campaign aims to raise awareness of the academic, economic, and workforce advantages that community colleges provide to students and their communities.

Across the United States, students who begin their higher education journey at a community college save thousands of dollars—often between $35,000 and $50,000—on the path to earning a bachelor's degree. Cochise College also offers career pathways aligned with regional workforce needs, ensuring students are prepared for in-demand, well-paying jobs.

Throughout its social media platforms, Cochise College will spotlight students—many of whom call their experience the "best decision ever." For them, the college represents an affordable, high-quality education and a stepping stone to creating better future.

Beyond tuition savings, public community colleges like Cochise College serve as critical access points for higher education, especially for first-generation, low-income, and non-traditional students. They train the region's nurses, paramedics, law enforcement officers, HVAC technicians, welders, skilled professionals and many others.

"Everywhere I go, I am told by current and former students that choosing to go to a community college is one of the best decisions they ever made," said ACCT President and CEO Jee Hang Lee. "Our goal is to get the message to students before they make financial decisions."
