Archaeology of Cochise College

People have been living in the Southwest for at least 13,000 years. Cochise County is home to sites associated with the earliest known southwestern cultural tradition, the Clovis people who hunted extinct megafauna. The inheritors of this area include the Hohokam, Mogollon, and Apache. Modern native groups like the Tohono O’odham have ties to the area as well.

Cochise College Archaeological Collection

The Cochise College Archaeological Collection comprises materials excavated by Cochise College’s Archaeology Resource Center (ARC) and donations from the community. Materials include pottery, lithics, photographs, and zoological material. The anthropology department is currently in the process of digitizing this collection to expand access to the public.
