Is it safe living on the Cochise College- Douglas Campus?
We have trained, professional staff on call 24/7 during the academic year. We also have five Resident Assistants that are available for students.
We have a small residential community (around 150 students and staff) that is located in a rural area that is monitored regularly by Campus Security and Housing staff. Because of our relatively small on-campus community we have the opportunity to know our residents on an individual basis and take care of any issues quickly and appropriately.
Our goal is to help students have a safe and positive college experience while learning how to live within a diverse community environment.
Cochise College is a dry campus. The possession, consumption, sale, or acceptance of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, narcotics, or controlled substances is prohibited on College property. Empty alcoholic beverage containers may not be used as decoration in student housing. Students may also not return to campus under the influence of any illegal substance. Abuse of prescribed medication or use of another person’s prescribed medication will also be considered a violation of our Alcohol and Drug policy.
Disciplinary action taken for violations of this policy can range from fines, to probation, to suspension from student housing and/or the College. Violations of this guideline will be reported to the Dean of Student Services for possible disciplinary action. This applies to all residents/students/visitors regardless of age.
Can I bring alcohol on campus?
No. You cannot possess alcohol, consume alcohol, or be under the influence of alcohol on campus. Same for any narcotics and dangerous drugs, regardless of age.
Can I bring my medical marijuana if I have a Medical card?
No. Medical marijuana cards are NOT accepted on campus, as ALL marijuana is considered illegal according to federal law. We are a Federally funded institution (students receive Financial Aid) and to remain in compliance we follow the Federal Law with regards to marijuana.
Although we ensure that everything is in working condition prior to your move-in, we understand that things may break or not work to your satisfaction. If this is the case, stop by the Residence Life Office and fill out a work order for your room or fill out an online facility work order. Be specific with your request.
If there is an emergency, such as the power is completely out in your room (lights, plugs, everything) or a water pipe seems to be broken and you have a leak, call our office at (520) 417-4062 or after-hours Resident Assistant (RA) or at (520) 234-2950) to have someone check it immediately.
